JUMP!!!

So to clarify, nobody ACTUALLY got sick on the plane...though Justin was close on our 45 minute flight from Detroit to Chicago...but I made sure to get him an airsick bag so he wouldn't barf all over me. Phew...

Moscow is a very different place, but as some people pointed out, a big city is a big city. We had a good day yesterday...classes will be very interesting. We're being taught ballet by a former Prima Ballerina, which sounds as cool as it is. She knows very little English, but suprising that wasn't a problem at all. She know's the words for "JUMP!" and "SIT!" and "HEELS DOWN!" which she yells repeatedly along with "SORRY!" the whole class. It's really nice to just dive right in and move very quickly.

The language barrier was pretty funny at one point though as the girls had to sit on the guys' one knee and then lean in AS IF to kiss them. However, when the teacher pushed Jason and Christina's heads together, they ended up actually kissing, which was met with a very quick "NEIT!" As if that wasn't funny enough, Christina (as we all were) was confused still and the teacher had Christina sit on her knee so she could demonstrate what the men were supposed to do. Sure enough, when we got to that part in the dance, she pulled Christina in close to her, and still thinking that you were supposed to kiss the other person, Christina went in to kiss her...again met by "NEIT!" Christina just informed me that the teacher actually had meant "Kissing POSITION"...very different.

The afternoon acting class was a very difficult experience as we played little games to help our focus. This is hard enough as it is, but when you're still suffering from jetlag, it's even harder. I think we all felt dumber by the time we got done with that class and I'm sure this won't be the last time we all feel this way.

After dinner, we came back to the dorm and headed right back out to go on a boat trip along the Moscow River, which was really quite beautiful. It took about an hour and a half and we got to see a lot of Moscow. Our enjoyment was increased by the fact that they served drinks. Most of the guys ended up drinking Vodka-Red Bulls and getting pretty drunk off of just one drink. And man, it was pretty cheap. You got a pretty good sized bottle of Vodka for about 60 rubles, which is about 2 bucks.

We took the Metro for the first time today. First, in order to get down to the subway you take the longest and steepest escalators I've ever seen! Seriously, straight down! Second, each subway station is beautiful! They're very ornately decorated and have a very classic feel to them. Craziness!

Still crazy thinking that we're in Russia. Still crazy that we're living 9 hours ahead of time when we should be sleeping. Apparently it takes about a month to truly get used to it...so right as we're getting ready to leave we'll finally be adapted.

Da Svidanya! (Goodbye...i think...)

  1. I am still trying to picture you doing ballet! Just remember to stand up straight, and always point your toes (-:

Oh, and pace yourself with the Vodka drinking. It's not really the same as beer.....
